In less than a decade since its commencement of operation, Gem Sugar has risen to a pre-eminent position in the industry.

Behind Gem Sugar sweet success has been unwavering commitment to quality and the keenness to embrace technology. Only the recommended variety of sugar cane is carefully procured from the registered cane growers in our command area. This is then processed with a sharp eye being kept on quality at every stage.

The sugar plant initially had a capacity of 4000 TCD (Tonnes Crushing per Day) and subsequently expanded to 7500 TCD which can be further expanded up to 10000 TCD in the existing sugar complex itself.

In line with Gem Sugar penchant for technology, its automation from the word "Go" at the plant. All processes and systems are highly mechanized - from cane harvesting, preparation and feeding, mill speed control, imbibitions control, juice flow stabilization, juice PH control, evaporators automation, vacuum filter automation, batch pan and continuous pan automation, crystallizer and pug mill level, batch centrifugal machine automation right up to auto weighing of sugar bags.

Recognizing the growing value of bagasse - a by-product generated in the sugar plant - the company has set up a 16.5MW co- generation plant. In Addition, Phase II with 8 MW co-generation capacity adds greater value to Gem Sugar offerings to renewable energy.

On the anvil are plans to set up a 60 KLPD Distillery-cum-ethanol plant in the same factory complex.

TOWARDS A GREATER CAUSE

Gem Sugar plays an active role in developing and enriching the lives of people in the vicinity of the plant. Amongst the prime initiatives are demonstration camps for scientific farming techniques, technical seminars, subsides for better quality seeds, water and energy conservation training, research into high yielding and high sucrose varieties of sugarcane and agricultural loans to cane growers.

The Company has taken initiative to run school in the vicinity of Sugar factory to offer high standards of primary education to the farming community. A Primary Health Center with a qualified doctor available round the clock with an ambulance and built places of worship in the factory premises are other contributions to society. The company is also committed to the socio-economic development of the rural population of its command area of operation.

The company has a well equipped Sugarcane Research & Development Centre.

A GO GREEN Initiative: Gem Sugar has engaged about 600 bullock carts to transport sugarcane in a conscious effort to reduce carbon emission.

As a further initiative, the company has already planted more than thousand honge saplings for extracting bio-fuel and the factory area is covered with greenery as per the norms.
